Join advocates and volunteers from across the state at our hallmark event “Hanging of the Hands” and assist in hanging hand artwork throughout the Capitol Rotunda. The hands show decision makers a visual representation of the vast number of children their decisions affect! Click here to volunteer.

Real Talk Town Hall on Education Equality

What are local and state leaders doing to ensure our public schools are preparing all students–but especially those from underrepresented communities–for success in college, their careers and beyond? Join parents, teachers, and community leaders, along with school board officials, and local, state and federal elected officials for a special community town hall meeting. This is your chance to ask important questions and be heard on the education issues that matter most to you.

Children’s Week Awards Dinner & Reception

The Children’s Week Awards Dinner & Reception takes place Monday evening to honor and recognize Children’s Week Partners and non-profit organizations who dedicate their lives to children. Children’s Week Breakfast

Tuesday, January 23, 2018 • 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m State Capitol CourtyardJoin us as we kick off the “Children’s Capitol for a Day” activities with the Children’s Week Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Children and families in attendance will receive a free “Grab and Go Breakfast” for a healthy and nutritious way to start your day.

Storybook Village

Children’s Week partners and volunteers will create a “village” of interactive reading booths for children to explore which will feature stories and characters from their favorite books!

Teens Town Hall Meeting

Tuesday,  January 23, 2018 • 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Governors Cabinet Room
The Town Hall Meeting hosted by Florida YMCA Youth In Government will provide a forum and voice for students from across the state to work together with Florida’s Children and Youth Cabinet to address important issues relating to children’s services.

Advocacy Training Workshop – “Making Your Case”

This workshop covers the basics of how to offer your input with impact. Learn the protocol. Learn what they need to hear, and more importantly don’t want to hear, to ensure your message is deliverd.

Children’s Week Press Conference: The Health and Well-being of All Children

Tuesday,  January 23, 2018 • 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. State Capitol Courtyard                                                                                  Join legislators, policy makers, business leaders and child advocates from across the state to celebrate Children’s Week at the State Capitol. Every child born in this state deserves to be raised in a family environment where there is love and on-going support. Unfortunately, there are too many children beginning and going through life experiencing situations that can prevent their potential to becoming productive and self-sufficient adults.  This year’s theme, “The Health and Well-being of All Children” recognizes every person in this state can play a role in ensuring children are safe, healthy and ready to learn to achieve.
